Well some would say this is a bowl game…The Toilet Bowl
The game is a battle of two 1-4 teams so someone is going to have 2 wins on Monday morning let’s just hope it’s the Raiders. The Raiders need this game more than anything right now, make no mistake about it the season is on the line for the Raiders. If some how the Silver and Black can win this game believe it or not they will only be 1 game behind in the loss column in the AFC west. So lets get right into the best Oakland Raiders preview on the internet right here on Reggie Mckenzie’s favorite site RAIDERS NEWS FLASH
Jaguars will travel to Oakland this Sunday to take on the Raiders in a showdown between two struggling teams. The Jaguars have opened the season with a 1-4 start and are coming off a 41-3 loss at home versus the Chicago Bears on October 7. Blain Gabbert is leading a Jacksonville passing attack that ranks last in the league, averaging a mere 142.8 yards a game through the air. The Raiders are coming off a devastating last second loss to the undefeated Falcons after Atlanta kicker Matt Bryant made a 55-yard field goal as time expired to drop Oakland to 1-4 on the season. The Raiders only win this season came against Pittsburgh, 34-31. The Raiders have lost two in a row and currently sit in third place in the AFC West, two wins behind division leaders Denver and San Diego. Jacksonville’s only win of the season also came in Week 3 against the Colts 22-17. The Jaguars are currently in last place in the AFC South. Jags are coming off a bye week so they are well rested the Raiders on the other hand are coming off a devastating loss and that is not a good thing. Raiders players have been walking around all week they just were told the news that their dog has died. Raiders must forget about what happened in Atlanta to win this game.
Let’s check out some news and notes:
Carson Palmer has a history with Jaguars offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski from their time in Cincinnati, Jags will be without WR Laurent Robinson who had a concussion, Raiders will be once again without Khalif Barnes, Maurice Jones-Drew will be coming back home to face Oakland. Raiders are a 4 point favorite. Jaguars also have the lowest average of passing yards covered with 142.8 yards per game. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been criticized for lack of leadership on the field. Gabbert and company have given up nine sacks in their last two games. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been the only player in the Jaguars offense who has been consistently giving good performance. Talking about the team’s offensive woes, Jones-Drew said: “It’s been the same thing for five years. Obviously, we’re not working hard enough. I don’t know. We’re just not playing well right now. We have to figure something out.” Carson Palmer also agrees with Raiders News Flash about the season being on the line “It’s a must-win for us,” Palmer told a Contra times “It’s an AFC game and an opportunity to start climbing our way back into the race.” The game will be on CBS with Ian Eagle on play-by-play and Dan Fouts on analysis. Lets go by the Numbers
Teams by the Numbers
JAGUARS OFFENSE: PASS 142.8 (31st)…RUN 98.4 (22nd)
JAGUARS DEFENSE: PASS 261.0 (23rd)…RUN 163.0 (30th)
RAIDERS OFFENSE: PASS 271.4 (12th)…RUN 78.4 (28th) not a typo
RAIDERS DEFENSE: PASS 274.6 (25th)…RUN 111.8 (18th)
This is it for Raider fans, Don’t just take my word for it even Palmer told you this game is a must win for this team. In order for the Raiders to stand a chance they must stop Jones-Drew. Some might say Raiders have a advantage at QB, Raiders are facing off with Blaine Gabbert but I don’t care who the QB is after we all seen what Ryan Tannenhill can do to the Raiders. The Raiders may of left everything they had in Atlanta last week and may not recover. I expect Jones-Drew and Gabbert to rip apart this defense but I think McFadden is going to also have a big day. I think the Raiders will win by 3 in a toilet bowl nail biter. Raiders need this game more than the Jaguars. I want to see Reggie Mckenzie upset and miserable the only way that happens is if Raiders win. Let’s hope he is not giving high fives and smiling after this game like he was last week.
